Synopsis

In a poor Macedonian village, overwhelmed by the daily duties of a typical housewife, Dana’s life revolves around her mother, husband and three children. On the day of the traditional pig slaughter, instead of the usual butcher, the appearance of her former lover Marko, draws her deeply buried secrets and fears back to the surface. Dana misses the moment to say farewell to her sick mother, Persa.

Director’s bio

Andrey I. Volkashin was born in 1985 in Macedonia. He graduated film directing at NATFA in Sofia, Bulgaria. His short documentary ‘Nothing In The Air’, premiered at Sofia International Film Festival. His graduation project ‘Kinder Surprise’, was awarded with the Audience Award at the Sofia International Film Festival while his middle-length music comedy ‘Shush.. Sing to me’ premiered at the Vilnius IFF in 2014 and is already enjoying a cult status in Bulgaria. The same year he participated at Berlinale Talents and Sarajevo Talents. His short script project ‘Ficus’ was selected by the program ‘Sarajevo, City of Film’ and will be produced and premiered at the upcoming edition of Sarajevo Film Festival 2018.
