ENFF arrives in The Hague with the post-punk psychological drama Imago by Polish director Olga Chajdas. The Dutch premiere of Imago will take place on Friday, November 1, at 19:00 at Laaktheater, The Hague. Synopsis
A shy, chubby, 13-year-old boy is bullied by his classmates every day. Living with just his grandmother while his parents work abroad, he is a lonely and introverted outsider who never responds to the insults and the mockery. Until one day, pushed to his limits, he instinctively hits back with a single, but probably fatal strike which finally puts him into self-initiation. The film premiered at the Sofia International Film Festival 2019, where it won the Special Jury Award, the Best Bulgarian Feature Film Award and the FIPRESCI Prize.
Director’s bio
Dragomir Sholev graduated from the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts in Bulgaria. After the success of his short films Family, Habanera, Before Life, After Death and The Go-Between, in 2009 Sholev filmed the documentary Now And Forever which was presented with a large audience success at the 14th Sofia IFF. In 2010 he directed his first feature Shelter which premiered at San Sebastian IFF and received 21 awards for its appearance at over 70 festivals around the world.
