The Land Within

dir. FISNIK MAXVILLE

DUTCH PREMIERE

Touching, visually stunning, multilayered film by Kosovar-Swiss director Fisnik Maxville linked to his personal experience and inspired by thousands of true stories. A compelling, awarded drama in which secrets from the past emerge along with the excavated bodies.

After fleeing Kosovo during the 1998/99 war and years of exile in Geneva, Remo returns to his country. He must help his cousin Una with the exhumation of a mass grave, where most of their family members were buried during the war. But the bodies reveal dark family secrets that will make Remo and Una question their past and future. A quest for truth in a place that only knows survival. The Land Within slowly unveils its mysteries as well as Kosovo’s traditions, culture, conflicts, and traumas.
