What if you are a woman of 37 and even after four miscarriages still want to have a child? Would you take a joke of your gynaecologist, who suggests to cheat on your husband, seriously?

Synopsis

Thirty-seven-year-old Tereza has been married to a sailor for a very long time. After several miscarriages, her gynaecologist, in attempt to cheer her up, jokes she should try to conceive with a different partner. This remark shakes up her monotonous life and steers it in a new direction. We meet a new Teresa who starts to re-examine her marriage, the relationship with her family and people around her. Her behaviour triggers a series of life-changing events, in the spirit of her newly acquired freedom and truth that is only hers. The film is a well-directed, award-winning contemporary drama that centres on a woman in a conservative, patriarchal region. Intelligently written and fantastically performed by Lana Baric, one of the top actresses in Croatia who is outspoken about some of these still taboo topics referenced in the film. Tereza 37 is set in Split, where she grew up.
