A heart-breaking story about an elderly couple confronting routine, patriarchal attitudes and the relentless process of dementia. Winner of the Grand Prix and FIPRESCI International Critics’ Award at the Golden Apricot in 2016. Dutch Premiere

SYNOPSIS

Determined to move on with their life, violently interrupted by the war several years ago, an elderly couple returns to their restored home. We follow their everyday life through the four seasons. Every day she becomes more absent and lost. Instead of helping her, he acts brutishly, sometimes even cruelly, towards his fragile wife. However, the realization that something is seriously wrong with her will make him question his behaviour and values.
