Bosnian-Dutch journalist Mustafa Hadziibrahimovic reveals an inside story about the unusual Bosnian sport club whose amazingly passionate members won the European, World and Olympic Championship.

Synopsis

Getting wounded during the war, losing a leg, recovering, playing sitting volleyball and finally becoming European, World and Olympic champion with the national team. This is the story of the national sitting volleyball team of Bosnia and Herzegovina and their passion, motivation and struggle. An impressive documentary about visible and less visible injuries, about facing limitations in life, but never giving up. A story of reconciliation and overcoming traumas through sports and friendship.

Director’s bio

After he fled Bosnia and Herzegovina during the war at the end of 1993 at the age of 15, Mustafa Hadziibrahimovic came to the Netherlands as a refugee where he studied Journalism at the School for Journalism in Utrecht. He started his study in 1999 and graduated in 2003. In 2009 Hadziibrahimovic did also master study in Crossmedial Journalism at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and Media Academy. Since 2003 he has worked for the Dutch Public Broadcasting as editor and reporter for several regional and prominent national radio and tv programs. Mustafa Hadziibrahimovic was director of several short and long documentaries which were screened on film festivals and broadcasted on the Dutch and Bosnian television. Some of these documentaries are: Back to Brcko (2005), Land of the Missing (2008), Some Other World (2012) and the last one ‘Wounded Gold’ (2017).
